Who else is doing dry January? December is always so busy and the rich food and drink definitely take a toll on both your insides and outsides! Once Christmas was over, I almost couldn’t wait for 1st January so I could start a bit of a detox for my skin (especially because Father Christmas brought me lots of skincare goodies!!). I decided to also give dry January a go as I thought this may help too (although I didn’t have much planned for the month anyway as I am in the process of moving into a new house)!

And I am so excited to say that the results are so far so good I haven’t half noticed a difference (and we are only half way through) – my skin feels brighter, smoother and softer! I am even (trying to) go make up free for a majority of the week too which I do feel has helped although I feel like if you wear good make up and apply it and remove it properly it doesn’t really affect your skin.

One thing I have always been told for good skin too is to drink plenty of water. I am pretty good with drinking water if I am honest I have always made an effort to make sure I am drinking plenty however again in December, usual routines I can never seem to maintain….my skin hated me!

I have spoken to a few people who have also felt the effects of December on their skin and for those who are looking for some ideas on how to get it back where it should be, I have found the most helpful things are water (and lots of it), early nights, fresh air, cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising. My favourite skin products of all time are the Clarins Blue Orchid oil and the Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask (even better mix the two together and apply half an hour before bed to sleep in…the best ever!!

Keep going everyone, January is half way done and we’re doing amazing!
